Title: ISNCC CERVICAL AND BREAST CANCER PREVENTION AND SCREENING TRAIN THE TRAINER PROGRAM

The aim of this session is to communicate the work of the International Society of Nurses in Cancer Care (ISNCC) in supporting nurses globally to contribute to improving care, reducing disparities and promoting social justice throughout the cancer care continuum as experienced by individuals, families and communities.
Objectives:
After the session, the participants will be able to:
1. Describe assessment tools to determine the level of caregiver burden among caregivers of patients with cancer.
2. Select appropriate strategies to address caregiver burden applicable in low to middle and high income economies.
3.Identify appropriate monitoring and evaluation methods to determine effectiveness of strategies and its impact on patient outcomes.

CANO/ACIO has long recognized the important role oncology nurses play in improving outcomes for cancer survivors, but as this is an emerging field in cancer nursing, a need was identified for high quality survivorship educational materials. CANO/ACIO would like to share these survivorship modules with conference attendees.
Objectives:
1. To explore how oncology nurses can contribute to positive patient, clinical and system outcomes in the survivorship phase of the cancer trajectory
2. To increase awareness of CANO/ACIOs updated survivorship learning modules
3. To provide cased based learning opportunities for workshop participants to apply survivorship care principles and knowledge to clinical scenarios.

This instructional session will describe the steps, strategies, challenges - and how to overcome challenges - of establishing international, multi-country collaborations for research or capacity building projects. It will use a decade long collaboration to grow nurses' engagement in tobacco control as a model on how to create successful collaborations.
Objectives:
At the end of this instructional session, participants will be able
1.To describe the steps necessary to establish a successful international collaboration to advance cancer nursing.
2. To formulate a draft collaboration plan accounting for opportunities and challenges.
3. To explore the advantages and disadvantages of using technology in international collaborations.
More About This Instructional Session
Tobacco use remains the leading cause of suffering, disease and death. In addition to causing cancer, it negatively impact cancer treatment outcomes and survivorship. Professor Linda Sarna, Dean, UCLA School of Nursing, and Professor Stella Bialous, University of California, San Francisco, School of Nursing are internationally recognized for their scholarly activities promoting nursing involvement in tobacco control. The have collaborated with the International Society of Nurses in Cancer Care in launching an international program to build capacity of nurses to address tobacco dependence based on their research experiences. They developed the first national program to help nurses quit smoking in the US and to promote the role of nurses in tobacco control, creating the award-winning Website, Tobacco Free Nurses. With the ISNCC, they have collaborated in translational research projects to increase nursing interventions to treat tobacco dependence among hospitalized patients in the U.S., China, Japan, Portugal, Central and Eastern Europe using web-based educational programs and resources. They will share their experiences in developing a multi-country collaborative to engage nurses in helping patients quit smoking in Central and Eastern Europe and discuss the results, opportunities, and challenges of these collaborations.

While the elderly most commonly are diagnosed with cancer, they are under-recognized and under-researched in terms of their special needs. The purpose of this session is to heighten participants’ awareness of the common sequelae associated with being old and having cancer to enhance oncology nurses’ advocacy efforts within their country.
